It is easier to transfer players to private schools although First Academy is paying the price for over doing it.

John Sprague at Sarasota was known for getting kids connected to colleges for scholarships. My sons played for him so I was in the athletic department office at times. It was not unusual to hear the athletic secretary taking calls from colleges looking for players to recruit. I know of kids from other area high schools calling him for help. Some coaches, like Sprague, are known for facilitating these opportunities from both sides. The kids from other schools would say their coaches did not make it a priority.

I'm not sure how far-fetched this is or if it is a plan down the road but, I would love to see New College of Florida start a football program. They have basketball for men and women, baseball, and other sports to boost enrollment. They are NAIA. This is a talent rich area that could really benefit by having a football team. What are your thoughts?

It's Booker...they have talent, but they also have the worst coaches in Sarasota County by far. I'm sure they think running up the score on incredibly weak opponents will make up for them losing to Mooney, Riverview, Berkeley and Sebring. Mooney is the only team of those four with more talent than Booker and that was the KOC, so losing didn't even hurt them there. Booker is lucky that they play in the weakest region, in the weakest classification in the FHSAA. They will be able to win at least 2-3 games in the playoffs on talent alone this year.

General Question: Is the job of the HC or a coach on the staff to assist with getting players recruited? Is it the job of the coaches to contact prospective schools, whether it be FBS, FBS, DII, NAIA, or DIII? I've seen coaches that do absolutely nothing when it comes to recruiting. I've seen coaches that only reach out to schools for players that are FCS/FBS only, and I've seen coaches that reach out to all levels if the players wants to play on the next level.

Booker HS Tornadoes (Sarasota, FL) has put up 83 and 85 points in their last 2 games against Gibbs (1-9) and Desoto County (1-8). I'm not sure how that will help them moving forward to playoffs, but I feel like this was a case of running up the score. They have a slew of JV players that should have been playing most of these games being that the JV team never played a game this year and they don't have a freshman team. In one the games, they put up 47 points in the first quarter and still had starters in the majority of the game.

Isn't it common for players to follow their coaches to other schools? Several Palmetto HS players followed their coach to Cardinal Mooney and Cardinal Mooney is currently 9-0. I don't understand what they did wrong.

Miami Central will not make the playoffs because the FHSAA has ruled that Miami Central will have to forfeit 9 games for playing with an illegal player.

First Academy in Orlando has had to forfeit multiple games but they are appealing the ruling. They will not make the playoffs if their appeal is rejected. Former USF QB, that is an assistant coach, Stephen Moffitt has been suspended for a year. He was the head coach at Leesburg last year. He brought a number of players over to First Academy that played for him at Leesburg.

Well don't get caught again, Charlotte is playing PC tomorrow night (Tuesday, they asked to change). Not expecting much of a game.

Then again WaveBB may remember when Naples had two All Americans was 9-0 and played 3-6 (I believe) North Ft Myers with a tough Sophomore FB named Mike Rubinski ran wild and upset them. Old timers always said a lot of money changed hands that night.
