Play you don't see much in high school, last night.

After a rain delay, the wind picked up and was gusty: NE to 18 knots. Tarpons are punting to Gulf Cove from our 35 or so (south end of field). From my vantage point, the ball either went straight up or got partially blocked. There's a scrum around the ball that hasn't passed the line of scrimmage. Out comes one of our skills with the ball, breaks a few tackles, and returns it.

We must have had 150 yards of offense driving the field the first two drives with no points, and it was 6-0 Gulf Coast before their O was on the field and had a single yard. They blocked a FG and ran it back. Tarps won 27-6.

The Tarpons came out in black jerseys—a first. I'm kind of a last-century guy, so I'm not going to comment on how I feel about that on here.
SK, good to hear from you. You probably saw it earlier this year when Charlotte put out that an exciting announcement was going to be made soon. A little later the announcement was those black uniforms. Your opinion of them sounds similar to mine.

Clearwater Central Catholic 28 Berkeley Prep 14

CCC was the better team last night but Berkeley’s sophomore QB Cooper Hayes went out in the middle of the 2nd half for about 8 minutes that certainly hurt their momentum. CCC was the more consistent team throughout the game. The Marauders took a 14-0 lead before Berkeley finally scored at the end of the first half on a beautiful TD pass to the back corner of the end zone.

CCC ‘s four year starting QB, Jershaun Newton, an Illinois commit, once again showed his talents mostly passing with some running. Of course, he is the last of 5 brothers to star for CCC. One of Newton’s older brothers, Jer’Zhan, was drafted with the 36th pick in the second round this year by the Washington Commanders.

Sean Cuono, a senior RB, a transfer from Calvary Christian who is committed to Indiana almost rushed for a 100 yards scored the first TD for CCC. He’s a tough runner that shed many tacklers that weren’t strong enough to take him down.

CCC has its usual swarming run to the ball defense. They arrive at the ballcarriers like crazed maniacs. This Marauders team is much like last year except the receivers appear to be a little pedestrian compared to last year.

Berkeley was a little slow getting up to speed for most of the first half. Notre Dame commit, Dallas Golden, got loose after a catch in the first quarter when the DB slipped down. He looked like he was headed for pay dirt but was run down and tackled inside the 10. Two plays later Golden fumbled from a Wildcat formation which CCC recovered. The Buccaneers went to Golden often in this game. He is talented but I did not see an elite performance last night.

We were fortunate not to experience any rain like the rest of most of Florida. There was a lot of cramping by both teams all night.
