Union County Assistants Resign After Head Coach Is Dismissed

Only reason given according to this article says the coach was using some harsh language. I’ll be honest with you, my grandson plays travels league basketball. The lid has been taken off because the language with what some of these coaches are using is almost no holds barred(I apologize for all the slang). An interim head coach has been put in place at Union County and new assistants are being hired.

Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte county preseason rankings by Maxpreps

I haven’t fine tooth combed my research but this is rough info.

Booker has 3 players in the top 100 plus 2 players in the 101-199. That makes them tied for 3rd with Miami Northwestern, West Boca Raton and Chaminade-Madonna for total # of players on the list with 5. Both MNW and Chaminade have 4 in the top 100 and of course 1 in 101-199. West Boca Raton has 2 in the top 100 and 3 in 101-199.

Cardinal Mooney has 3 players in the top 100 and 1 in the 101-199. That makes them tied for 4th with The Bolles School, Vero Beach and Armwood for total # of players on the list with 4. Bolles and Vero Beach have the same as Cardinal Mooney with 3 in the top 100 and 1 in the 101-199. Armwood has 1 in the top 100 and 3 in 101-199.

* Did not include IMG in my team totals. They have 13 players in the top 100 and 3 in 100-199.

Union County Assistants Resign After Head Coach Is Dismissed

The most touching scene I witnessed last season was after being defeated by Chiefland in the playoffs the Union County team, fans, band and cheerleaders sang Amazing Grace. Recently, Head Coach Andrew Thomas has been relieved of his duties. The attached article doesn’t give the reason but did say parent complaints was an issue. Five assistants have followed by individually posting their resignations on Facebook.

How Lakeland Coach Supplements His Income

36 Lakeland HS Helmets were stolen and resold to "Play it Again Sport", but only 7 are being reported as resold. Sheriff Judd, a Lakeland Grad himself, is being reported as still attempting to locate buyers of those 7 helmets (Naughts 08 and LHSNaught), both at one time known throughout the Lakeland community as one time Lakeland Dreadnaught Homer super fans. Of greater concern was the sudden drop in interest with Lakeland Dreadnaught paraphernalia in a open market locally?

My how the once mighty have fallen, where a program like Lakeland HS, must now depend on school janitors to fill out its coaching ranks....looks like a going out of business sale is in order and "Everything Must Go"

Thanks for for the video! I'm a Naught till I die but I must say I laughed my tail off back then and again today.

There's no drop in the "local" mark for Dreadnaught paraphernalia. Lots of Dreadnaught business support all over the city including areas not zoned for Lakeland. I'm more impressed that Hillsborough County residents are enamored enough to buy Lakeland gear, lol.

Rest in Peace Coach Hammerburg (Team Hammer).

First Academy Coach Will Be Punished

The 2025 appeal to play for First Academy this year is yes, we may not be able to play for a state title this season but our tough semi national schedule will attract big school recruiters to watch and attend your games. I wonder if First Academy considers becoming an IMG or continue to pursue the Aquinas method program. My guess is they will want to play for a FHSAA state title but they might kick around the idea to go national.

First Academy Coach Will Be Punished

First Academy’s suspensions will remain intact. They may have gotten away with it if they weren’t so overzealous. They brought in such a high number of transfers and everyone took note.
