Some tuff brakes along the way, caused Manatee to end up with the short end of the stick on this one. Some might say it was the INT that led to STA's only TD... for me it was aapparent 1st down QB sneak up the middle by Manatee that appeared to be a 1st down by a number of yards in STA territory. Only have the back judge throw a flag after the play was over, to erase the 1st down and put Manatee in a 3rd and long situation which Manatee was unable to convert. My question is this, what was the penalty for, because it appeared the refs only marched off 5 yards and why did the back judge wait till the play was blown dead to call this mystery penalty it????? That penaly changed everything for Manatee at that point. If not for that penalty, Manatee was in a position to at worst, kick a FG to tie the game up at 16....very unfortunate time for a penalty.
Update: had to go back and listen to the radio broadcast on the mystery penalty call. It was actually 2 flags, 1 - a sideline warning call 2- illegal formation or movement call.
Play of the game for me was watching the Manatee guard pull, and just completely destroy the STA defender to free Smith up his long TD run......... While others were running up to Smith after crossing the goalline to congratulate him...I'd been the one seeking out the guard to high five him forthat for block....it was a thing of beauty! I believe it was the transfer lineman from Lakewood Ranch, that made the block.
