So teams in the same district could end up playing each other in round 1?

Yes. It's all about the seeding. The more teams from your district make it to the post season, the greater the likelihood you have these match-ups.

Gotcha,

Well still a lot left to be done... I see a lot of teams ranked higher right now who will not finish over teams that are below them as I know how those heads to heads are going to go.

I should stress that the playoff predictions are based off MaxPreps District Standings. If 2 teams have zero losses than I put the team with the highest point total as district champion (this will change as we have more district games). Additionally, as the FHSAA updates their scores (as will happen as coaches/fans/media call in to report mistakes) than the numbers will change.

This is a very fluid situation for the next 5 weeks. A team that is average 40+ points and wins the next, their average could still fall because the points they earned were less than their current average.

Additionally, as more district games are played those standings will become clearer.

One thing that I think will be needed to be addressed in the long term is seeding. A district champion who is the #4 seed plays the #5 seed (Top Wildcard Team) that is fine, but if #5 wins they would play the #1 seed (assuming they won). I would like to see a re-seeding done each round (so if the #1, #2, #5, #6 teams all win, that #1 would play #6, instead of #5 which is what they normally would play). Too many of the regions it looks advantageous to be the #2 seed rather than the #1 seed in terms of a 2nd round playoff game, but again it is too early. But one thing I would keep an eye on is how many #1 seeds fall to a #5 seed come playoff time in 5A-8A.

And these are just one person's take on the standings and playoff predictions based on current data. I am not saying this is how it will be 5 weeks from now.

My take was that while its interesting to look at, its still way too early to start predicting playoff seeding's.......

Go Canes Go!

I agree. Until the district games play out and we have winners, the seeding will be up in the air. Even then, week 11 will still impact the final playoff picture. Short of locking up the district, no team is really safe and even if safe, there will be uncertainty about which team you will play in the first round.

Dunnellon is good, right? I mean I know they're good - but are they "really good"? Like "beat Bolles" good?

I agree, I don't think the end results will look like this, but it gives an idea on how some teams are doing since they have played more than half their schedule and have a good starting point for their schedule.

It like when the Playoff Committee for the NCAA releases their top 25, a #8 could still move up to the top 4 once all the games have been played.

The hardest thing you have to do is hope all of your opponents win games, but not enough games to get put in front of you while you continue to win games.

This seeding is based off of current standings.
No way Lakewood Ranch gets in the playoffs for 7A 11. That I cant see that.

In your region i see (as i said earlier) Venice 1 BR 5 Pal 6/7 which seeing Palmetto play The View tough and beat Manatee and Lake Gibson could fare very well for them when you try to project future match ups

I just realized Booker T has the toughest SOS in the state and will not have a winning record... Could they miss the playoffs?

Yes. To have a chance of making it, they need to beat Carol City in their next game. Even then, they will need some help. Evans should not pose a problem.

Hope Hardee enjoys sitting at home this year because they’ve earned it… This has to be the worse offensive scheme I’ve ever seen from any Hardee team…It embarrassing and an insult to previous Head Coaches and to Coach Bob Martin whose beliefs and ways are thrown out the door with this years offensive scheme…I will say this, if whoever does not get control of the offense it’s only going to regress each year… I thought Bartow was bad we are right behind them… Running a scheme that does not work and looks pee wee style is just pathetic… I’m not pointing fingers SK but brother Hardee is going to lose a lot of gate funds starting this week from what I’ve gathered…It’s just embarrassing because there is no execution, no discipline, no uniqueness to this crap we are seeing…

I was holding off on Fridays from going fishing but I guess it’s time to go back doing what I love in catching them crappies…I rather spend money on something enjoyable than to see this mess this county has to endure this year… Like I said last year Hardee would be better off running the veer or Georgia Tech offense because as of right now somebody is trying to do something they don’t have a clue how to do it…

peezy28 to be honest and after talking with a few exCoaches and an exHC we have come to the conclusion that we do not know what they are running!!!!

It’s suppose to be the pistol spread which is killing high school football…I’ve seen it first hand how it has destroyed Bartow watching them play… I guess I’m done with this game for a few years and going back to fishing on fridays…I figure I would go this year since the HC was bragging on his OLine at the start of the season but to be honest what good are they if all you do is run the same play to the same gap 98% of the time… Then when you do pass you really don’t have the WRs to pass…

O well it’s just a game, time to spend my $$$$ on other things…

I wouldn't say it's ruining the game i would say overzealous coaches trying to fit a square peg in. Round hole are. I've seen thay offense work wonders for teams who have the talent to run it (and a coach who l now's how to mix up the play calling). But to your point I see coaches trying to run thay and other similar systems just because it's the new thing and it's not meant for their team.

This is what I’ve been saying for a few years now…Hardee is decades behind teams like American Heritage even though AHP is a pretty new school…It’s always been about tradition at Hardee but that has been thrown out the door…Please understand I am not bashing just being critical of what I see and what many other experienced people see…

They have the size to run the veer and even the Power I…Do what was taught to you and do what is tradition and quit trying to be what others are trying to do… Look at Avon Park the last two years they come out running at you, not with the pistol spread, they are running what Hardee use to run back in. 2003-2003, a split back…and it works…I feel bad for them next year when they are not going to have a QB with legs and if they don’t get some meat on that backup QB he is going to get injured I’m afraid…155 lb qb won’t do in this league…

They have the Staff but they are going in the wrong direction offensively… Defensively they are doing well for what is given to them…
