New Tradition the Annual Flavarsity Meet up

Yes, sir, we need to do this more. The last time I saw you when we weren't on a sideline was at the FlAVA gathering Wave's hosted at his condo in Ruskin.

Guess I should have sent out a invite to my fellow Manatee brethren, but there again no one has heard a peep from TWC2499 since Friday night????? Maybe I should see about having someone from the Manatee County Sheriff Dept to do a welfare check? Anyone seen someone all decked out in red, white, and blue hanging out on the "Green bridge"? Sometimes folks can take a loss in pretty bad ways..........

We blew it! We could have set up a meeting with TWC. Hopefully we can do that in future if he is interested. It was a great game Friday night. Manatee put on a good show. Had a friend at the game visiting from North Carolina. When Manatee scored their 2nd TD you should have seen his face light up with the stadium celebration. He had never seen anything like that at a high school game.

Bobbie Gentry I was obsessed with her. I wrote to her and even got a couple of signed pics when I was 15. She had the Delta guitar sound like Tony Joe White in Polk Salad Annie, DeGaeta got your granny. Fancy:

I can totally relate, as I had similar fixation with Carly Simon with a particular emphasis on the "No Secrets" album cover.

SK, as you know Bobbie was married briefly to Jim Stafford. Stafford recorded a short live album at the Elbow Room in the old Cabana Inn on US 41 in Sarasota in the early ‘70’s. One of his best friends was George Peter Ryan. He was the uncle of my neighbor across the street from where I lived in Sarasota. George used to do the evening stock report on the old channel 40.

Seems I remember a Cabana Inn, but a old Postcard I found online says the "Elbow Room" was located on St Armands Circle??

I guess I was wrong about that. I was in 5th grade when I heard about this. We moved across the street from the Ryan’s in 1972. Kevin Ryan is still a good friend of mine. We used to listen to this recording. Especially Stafford’s version of A Boy Named Sue.
