The FHSAA has come back out with their new rankings prior to this Fridays Regional Finals. The main classification affected is 5A! Manatee has overtaking Lakeland as the overall #1 seed. Having many wonder why with the new rankings and if they are pushing for a Lakeland and STA 5A finals?
Here are the new 5A rankings

1. Manatee (Bradenton) 9-1 24.0125
2. Lakeland 11-1 20.823
3. Lincoln 10-2 20.7827
4. Niceville 11-1 20.7379
5. STA 9-3 19.8406
6. Tampa Bay Tech 9-2 19.5986
7. Atlantic 11-1 19.5575
8. Riverdale 10-2 14.1439

TWC,

I’m on FHSAA site trying to find this. Do you have a link to the page?

I saw the FHSAA released what Im going to assume are updated rankings, and while it appears the 5A semi-final parings are what you'd see under the old traditional brackets. The rankings themseleve have left me scratching my head, trying to figure out how the FHSAA came up with its final ranking. Manatee of the 4 remaning teams in 5A, played by far the easier regular season schedule as well as the easist teams in the playoffs but somehow got top seed over a undefeated Lakeland team?????

My take at this point is unless the Manatee defense can pull a performance similar to what it did in the semis in 2009, Manatee will be "boat raced" by STA next friday. Lakekand is going to have its hands full with Niceville, and depending how Niceville handles the bus ride to Lakeland.....Im going to call Niceville for the upset because Lakeland's offense has become so anemic. If Cardinal Mooney is at home for its semi final game and it is against Cocoa.....Im thinking it going to be the best game to see between the 3 local teams left playing at home for the semi's.

I copied this from another forum, so my folks from Manatee County that tend to look at things with rose colored glasses with regards to Manatee....can see its not just me that aint buying the hype.

"It should be the 2 best teams. Manatee has had an atrocious playoff path. Their regular season left alot to be desired too. Lakeland and STA are by far the 2 best teams left in the class. Manatee is benefitting from one of the worst regions in the history of the FHSAA"
