All over social media fans of the Astronaut High War Eagles in Titusville have been expressing their angst about being left out of the playoffs. Astronaut beat The Villages Charter High Thursday night 21-20 to win the 2A District 6 title. Astronaut finished with a record of 6-4 while The Villages Charter finished at 5-4 as runner up in the district. Fans of the War Eagles found out Friday evening they had been left out while the team they just defeated made it. The Villages Charter finished with a higher FHSAA point ranking than Astronaut. The following is an article with other schools are feeling snubbed.

For the record the Laz Index had The Villages Charter ranked higher than Astronaut. Better start scheduling tougher opponents.

Noted some of the exact same things, some of the seedings I had to question as well. example: How does a 10-0 Mitchell end up with a lower seed then a team they actually beat of the football field? Not saying I fault what the FHSAA has done over-all, but there are little adjustments like this, that need to be addressed moving forward.

You probably already know this. Mitchell's opponents combine records are 36-63. That is one of the determining factors that go into determining power ratings is strength of schedule. Most likely the opponents had a better strength of schedule even though they beat that team...

My remarks were specifically related to the head to head contest with that team seeded ahead of them despite Mitchell's win over them. I understand formulas and their outcomes, I'm just saying head to head outcomes, particularly a team that went undefeated, might be something the FHSAA might want to look at moving forward.

Like Mark said, in my mind Mitchell is a team a lot of teams will probably be hoping to avoid.....they are a sneaky good program!
In fact if I wasn't driving from Punta Gorda, I'd be more inclined to go see Parrish Community play Mitchell, than the Manatee game....just because I anticipate it being a good game!

Scheduling definitely makes a difference. Just because you have a good overall record and a dominated weak district doesn't guarantee you will be seeded high or even make the playoffs for that matter.
