Manning Johnson
1. Punter for Charlotte H.S. (1982-1984)
2. Third string long-snapper for The Bolles School (1991-1995)
3. American-born Black man who quit Communism and became a U.S. Government Informant

Well, since this is an O.T. post, you might want to guess "3".

You also might want to Google the guy's name. And you can also Google "Color, Communism and Common Sense", a non-fiction book that Johnson (1908-1959) authored in 1958. The book is an insider's tell-all tale about his 10 year membership in the Communist party where he was trained to use racial division to hopefully bring down capitalism in the U.S.A.

Think something that was written 62 years ago doesn't apply today? Better think again. Check out these two quotes:

Quote #1 on the Political Exploitation of Blacks: "Many white Northern politicians objectively aid the rapidly deteriorating racial situation through the exploitation of leftist propaganda to garner Negro votes. They care not a tinker’s dam about the Southern Negro and simply flatter the Northern Negro whom they consider a gullible fool. Getting elected and re-elected is their only concern."

Sound pretty topical? Does this assessment from 1958 help you understand what's happening today in places like Portland and Seattle?

Quote #2 on the Manipulation of the Black mindset: "Moscow’s Negro tools in the incitement of racial warfare place all the ills of the Negro at the door of the white leaders of America. Capitalism and imperialism are made symbols of oppressive white rule in keeping with instructions from the Kremlin.

To one familiar with red trickery, it is obvious that placing the blame for all the Negroes’ ills at the door of the white leaders in America is to remove all responsibility from the Negro. This tends to make (allow) the Negro:

(a) To feel sorry for himself;
(b) Blame others for his failures;
(c) Ignore the countless opportunities around him;
(d) Be jealous of the progress of other racial and national groups;
(e) Expect the white man to do everything for him;
(f) Look for easy and quick solutions as a substitute for the struggle to get ahead.

The result is a persecution complex - a warped belief that the white man’s prejudices, the white man’s system, the white man’s government is responsible for (all bad outcomes). Such a belief is the way the reds plan it, for the next logical step is (hatred of all Whites) which can be used by the reds to accomplish their ends."

Sound pretty familiar? It could have been written yesterday. You could spread this type of $hit on the floor, hand out spoons, tell BLM'ers it was chocolate ice cream and not one of them would ever know the difference.

But now, 61 years after Manning Johnson's 1959 death (he was killed in an automobile accident), we've got LeBron James (among many other prominent Black athletes) preaching to Black Americans that their biggest fear in life should be being hunted down and killed by a white policeman.

AND NO, IT WOULDN'T MATTER IF 500 BLACKS WERE SHOT EACH WEEKEND BY DRUG DEALERS, LEBRON'S ADVICE WOULD STILL BE TREATED AS GOSPEL.

Praise the Lord and pass the spoons around!

I was born in 1959, the same year you indicated this gentleman died. I've spent alot of time online since this pandemic became the driving force in how we live our lives daily. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon videos from Arch Bishop Fulton Sheen, he had a weekly show that appeared from the 50's - 70's and many of his shows dealt with a lot of subject matter that wasn't necessarily catholic theology.......like communism, stalin etc..... I would have loved having this guy teach Americanism versus Communism when I was in school and it was still a required credit course to graduate HS!

Yep, it was a 30 minute weekly show and Fulton J. Sheen was one extremely, extremely creepy dude. His demeanor, careful eye movement and halting delivery of speech always reminded Nu'Trelle of Actor Bela Lugosi in his portrayal of "Dracula".

The big thing Bishop Sheen had figured out - and tried to communicate to that small percentage of Americans who could manage to abide his weirdness - was that Communism and all of it's dictates was based entirely on lies and deception.

And the biggest lie of all was the "Promise of Equality" for the masses.

In 50's classrooms, black and white children sat side by side and were taught Marxist theory. Teachers clearly explained it's shortcomings. We were taught the many pitfalls. Teachers stripped things bare.

Selling Communism was truly an uphill battle for those of Socialistic persuasion in the 50's. I'd like to claim that kids in the 50's were too smart to be taken in, but the credit really goes to our educators. Those who took the pains to teach us the unvarnished truth.

But that was then and this is now. Things have changed dramatically over the past 70 years. And Americans are growing closer and closer to imploding from within.

Can the tide be stemmed? You'll have to ask the people carrying the BLM signs. At the moment, they're clearly ready to destroy America and surrender their freedoms in the pursuit of finding a solution to "perceived" social injustice.

God help all Americans ... including the ones who are being duped.

The FBI has investigated the Civl Rights movement since the 1950s, they watched MLK like a hawk, because is Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) recieved funds from an America Communist Party group. They also watched the more Militant Black Panthers and younger Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) leaders. And there was a Black writer who fled to Communist Cuba who wrote inflamatory newsletters, The Crusader, calling for Urban revolt. The 1960s had numerous socialist and communist groups involved in Civil Rights, The Labor struggle and Ant-war movement. Communists from the beginning of the last century always try to attach themselves to other social movements to push their cause.

There were numerous groups like the John Birch Society and others that sent newsletters and promoted books like Manning Johnson's depicting the evils of communism.

The government knew labeling them communists was a quick way to discredit the opposition. History identifies it as the Second Red Scare (The first during McCarthy's era).

Naturally history will likely label this the 3rd Red Scare. And yes there are better organized openly socialistic/communists oriented groups having the most success ever; pushing their politicians, causes and agenda, these days. They've evolved.

Silver,

During the 50's and 60's were there Black Panthers or similar groups allowed to riot in the manner antifa and BLM groups are being allowed to do by local politicians? You've got members of Joe Biden's presidential campaign actually organizing to setup and collect funds to get members of these groups out of jail and/or provide legal representation. I in all honesty haven't begun reading about these groups from that time period, its hard for me to imagine however that in these cities where these riots are taking place.....that local politicians allowed it to go on like has occurred for the last few months as well as deny any federal assistance?

Yes, but not for that reason. In blocks-wide city riots most PDs don't have the man power or equipment to deal with masses. They are generally protecting fire units fighting associated fires. They just don't wade into it or there would be thousands of deaths.

Even in Detroit in 1967 when the National Guard, and elements of the 82nd and 101st Airborne were brought in, they didn't launch assaults - they cleaned out pockets, exchanged fire with snipers. They did not attack the city and fight house to house like Marines had to at Hue in Vietnam the next year, that had such high casualty rates.

Then again 5 days of riots back then, were way, way more violent than these. Here's the Detroit toll from my book:

"Over five days of riots some 1,400 buildings burned and 43 people died -- 16 were police, firefighters or federal soldiers. More than a thousand were injured. Police reported 7,231 arrests."

The reaction after that "Long Hot Summer" of 1967 that had around 160 city riots was PD's began training and arming for riots with vehicles and militray surpluss Armored Personnell Carriers, developing SWAT teams.
