Watched this online Saturday, and while Palmetto generally was in control of this one, the score remained relatively close.

With a number of big ways along the way, Largo was able to take the lead. Palmetto had the ball down to the Largo 25 yard line, clinging to a 16-14 lead. A Largo freshman defender however forced a fumble, and Largo subsequently recovered with just over 7 minutes left in the game. That same Largo defender then took a hand-off from the RB position on the very next play between the tackles and went 80 yards for the TD to put Largo out front 21-16.

Largo squibs the Kickoff and Palmetto muffs it, and Largo recovers. It's looking really bad for Palmetto at this point. Palmetto defense forces Largo to punt and Palmetto now has the ball at its own 10 yatd line with 4:50 left in the game. On a double pass play, Palmetto scores a TD and then gets the 2 point conversion to take a 24-21 lead with 4:38 left in the game.

Palmetto kicks off and Largo's got the ball with 4:31 left in the game. Largo turns the ball over on downs to Palmetto at the Largo 28 with a little over 3 minutes left in the game.....(Palmetto just needs to run the clock out). With less than a minute left it appears Palmetto gets a 1st down, but a penalty negates that and Palmetto turns the ball over to Largo on down at the Largo 25 with 52 seconds left in the game. Largo completes a long pass and run for another long TD play to take the lead with 19 seconds left in the game
.....and we have ourself a 1st round upset.

I didn’t see either of these teams play this year. I remember in the preseason the Palmetto players were real excited to have a new coach. You could really feel the players distain for the previous coach. If things were that bad you have to wonder if they will attract the players they need to win. With Manatee’s resurgence and Parrish Community looking like a viable option Palmetto needs to win to convince people it is the place to be. I had Palmetto beating Largo. So Largo gets a talented Wiregrass Ranch this week. Interesting game. Wiregrass Ranch can be their own worst enemy with multiple penalties.

Who had St Petersburg beating Dunbar 35-0. After a very uninspired performance against Port Charlotte Dunbar appeared to right the ship so I had Dunbar taking care of St Petersburg. Are the Green Devils for real? Is there a reason Dunbar played so poorly? This week St Petersburg visits Naples. Are the Green Devils for real?

I forgot about that one, and yes I was surprised by the score.......more so than the actual loss

I was surprised about the Palmetto outcome. As I watched online, Palmetto was in control, but turnovers/mistakes/miscues can be the difference in winning and losing. They had a good season. Hopefully they can keep the players they need and keep building.

They won by 15 so Laz had it about right. As explosive as PC is I would expect them to get by Naples. Haven’t seen Naples play but they are always are a tough out. They reseed after the next round.

What got me was the QB play , and it wasn't the Florida Commit from Jesuit. The former Charlotte Tarpon Soph QB really makes the PC offense go both with his arm and legs. I believe the Naples strength on offense plays right into the PC strength on defense, with PC playing this one at home has to be the favorite......should be a outstanding contest to see!
