Historically, these are two of the most consistently competitive programs in SW-Suncoast. Both have benefited from being built in locations early on, which gave them the best talent draw from their areas, as well as having a few of the best head coaches in South Florida. I've always had much respect for both of them. Charlotte's played them since the 1930s. When my team beat Venice for two straight district titles, they were the first Tarpon wins in the series for 15 years. When we beat Naples, it was two years after they beat our varsity with that blistering 1968 team, 70-something to nothing.
