Out of State Contests:

Florida 25 - 34

That 6A is a very tough class! They have a winning record against all but one other class.

I want to know what 1A and Independent teams beat which 8A teams....that's embarrassing lol

My detailed data isn't with me right now but I'm pretty sure the Indpendent school that beat an 8A school was Berean Christian. I'll post those for you tomorrow.

Nope. I stand corrected. It was IMG over Miramar. Berean Christian beat 7A Olympic Heights.

IMG was the only Independent to defeat an 8A school (Miramar).

In class 1A, two schools defeated 8A teams:

Fort Meade over (8A) George Jenkins
Pahokee over (8A) Seminole Ridge

An observation of playing out of state by the survivor of another Turkey Bowl yesterday playing with the sons and generations of Tarpon football players. ore as shit but still made the state page.

Out of state games used to be between elite teams, years ago there were brokers trying to put them together. These days it seems a lot of Florida teams are playing out of state, some are not necessarily the cream of the crop, or they're shelf-dated from when their programs were. Like one year BTW is hot, the next it may be Armwood, or Miami Central. They used to be scheduled on what was coming not where they've been. Often they schedule dominant programs from a particular state that doesn't have the athletes or programs across the competition pool like Florida does, but has them stacked on one of a couple of teams (Private or public and I'm not saying that doesn't happen in FL, just that the top teams change more often here).

That might be true in most of Florida but not in the panhandle. Often, they have to look for out of state games to fill their schedule. The games are not big media events. They are just an opportunity to see how a team will travel (in preparation for the playoffs) and often shows them better competition.

There have been some of the awesome games between panhandle teams and those from Southern Alabama, Southern Mississippi, or Southern Mississippi.

It's also more economical for panhandle teams to play teams from Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia since they are closer. It's a pain in the backside to travel to Jacksonville and Orlando, and it's a pain for them to travel here, and expensive.

And while we're at it, let's talk some more about the Florida Gators 2016 non conference schedule: Home: UMass, North Texas and the Presbyterian Blue Hose. Give me a bus pass to Cleveland with that nonsense! Oh yeah, at FSU in a stadium 1/3 filled with Gator fans.
