DeSoto County High School has a new head coach, but his name may be familiar some older Florida high school football fans.

Sounds like a response to parents. By the way, one of those kids who transferred to Charlotte transferred back to Desoto after the payoffs to play Basketball. He wasn't going to start for the Tarps (Regional Champs Playing in the State Final Four tonight); Free agency is the baby of Florida's legislative hand in high school sports. IMO it takes more than a coaching change to stop an exodus; the principal needs to do his part too with academics. They lose way more students (including some deep generation names) than athletes, to Charlotte.
From what information I have seen, this is a good hire for Desoto. Hopefully he gets the support from the community to be successful.
Tarps had a pretty good run in Basketball this season, and look to be in pretty good position for the state wrestling tournament. Heading into today's matches in 2nd place, 5 points behind Palmetto Ridge (another traditional wrestling power). Hurricanes still have all 4 of their wrestlers undefeated and in 8th place team wise for 3A.
Hurricanes have 2 wrestling for a state titles in 3A, Tarps have 4 right now wrestling for state titles with possibly a 5th at 285...(semi's for that weight class haven't been completed yet).......Great Showing thus far! Tarps are 3 points behind Palmetto Ridge in as far as team standings go in 2A, and Manatee moved up 1 position for 7th in 3A
Charlotte HS takes the team 2A title, with 3 individual state Champions, Manatee finished 7th in 3A, with 1 state champ, 1 - 2nd place and a 3rd place finish
Tarpons had a great two weeks: Finished as Regional Champs in both Men's and Women's Basketball, and the Wrestling team won the State Title in the toughest wrestling division. They also took the county Mock Trial Championship for the ninth time in 10 years; Great Academics, Great Athletics; Charlotte County's First and Finest!

Hard to believe the Tarps are accomplishing all this without even ONE "Silver King" descedant currently enrolled at CHS. Got word on any future Tarps in the SK pipeline?
I know Neut, so far SK only has some Title IXers inbound if there's still a Title IX and if by then, it hasn't been taken over by those identifying as female.
