First year IC HC Elgin Hicks is a former Tarpon great (In our HOF) who played at USF and coached here. It was nice to welcome him back to the Fish Bowl. HIs son led the Tarps that made it to the Semi-final game against Carol City a few years back, and a daughter is a talented point guard. Great Tarpon family and Tarpon nation wishes him well.
Typical early season game minus the rain. The announcers made the remark at one point during the game that the Tarpons penalty yardage may have exceeded their offensive output. But after a less then stellar start in the Classic, where we had a QB change in the last quarter, the Tarps did enough to control this game from start to finish. The D kept the Gators out of the end zone until the game's last play. The new QB got some accuracy confidence with a few good passes, a couple of which were dropped.
Next week's opponent, Port Charlotte, had their game with Dunbar canceled because of Covid - Lee county schools have been either very cautious with all their Covid edits, or very political .
