Tarpons had to contend with one of the best backs in the nation, Richard Young averaging 209 a game. The Tarpon D allowed him a long of 27-yards and one TD. But they also stopped him on one of two 4th and 1s and caused him to fumble once. He ended up with 157 yards. They got the offense 3 turnovers, playing the short side of the field all night and keeping it a one possession game all the way. Great effort by the Defense.
The offense on the other hand wasn't clicking. They did clean up the penalties 1st half, and into the 3rd until the most crucial downs of the game after driving down to the 6 with 3 minutes left in the 4th. Then they imploded with a string of: illegal motion, holding and delay of game. So, they saved the penalties for the most inopportune time. Five trips to the red zone they managed only 7 points. Missed FG, Blocked FG, and twice on downs. The Lehigh D had pretty darn good night holding the Fish to 171 yards and no completions.
