Five teams from me and my oldest son's old conference, the KCAC. But they have a hard time getting by Heart of America in the playoffs.

Nice!

If you've ever watched the lower division playoffs, you know the names UW-Whitewater, Grand Valley St, and Mt Union. One of the three wins almost every year.

I am a little surprised to see Boise St at the top of the D-1 list. TCU also. Glad to see the three Florida teams, FSU, Florida, and Miami made the list. There's a lot of championships between them!

Mount Union 210 wins!!! In 15 seasons (2000-2014) for an average of 14 wins per year ? Laz, if that's not a misprint they rival the total dominance of the UCLA Bruins basketball teams of the 60's and early 70's. That is a fantastic accomplishment for any college program.

Playing in the NAIA saved me a fortune after Hurricane Charley destroyed my house. My adjuster played at Missouri Valley and because of the connection took very good care of me - I was the only person in my neighborhood who didn't have to go to arbitration or get a lawyer because of how their insurance companies undercut them.

A year later he ran into one of my teammates in Kansas City doing a claim for hail damage and asked if he knew me - small world.

Dan,

This dynasty surpasses UCLA in my opinion. Since 2000 the Purple Raiders of Mount Union amassed an amazing record of 210-9 (.959). But it goes way, way beyond that.

Unlike other divisions, NCAA D3 currently has 225 football members competing for the national championship. Since D3 does not allow athletic scholarships, these kids play purely for the love of the game. So good players go to Alliance, Ohio because they want to be part of a winning tradition. Why else would they be drawn to a tiny college with an enrollment that's comparable to a Florida 7A high school?

Here are some of the feats accomplished by the Mount Union football program and why I believe it's the greatest dynasty of our time:

During the period 1992-2014 (23 years):

-Mount Union has never missed the D3 Playoffs, accumulating an unbelievable record of
312-14 (.957) along the way.

-The Purple Raiders appeared in 18 D3 National Championships, winning 11 and losing 7.

-Mount Union has only lost 2 regular season games.

Don't ever think there aren't amazing football players that play at these levels. Probably a couple playing tonight.

My freshman year in the NAIA starting in our first game of the season, I played against Roland "Bay" Lawrence (He never left the field), even got to hit him once on a punt return - the next year he was with the Atlanta Falcons where he became a Pro-Bowl Corner with a 7 year career. Five games later I got to go head up for 8-10 plays against Ed Smith (Colorado College) who played DE the next two seasons with the Denver Broncos. They just moved him all up and down our line depending on our formations, 6-7 quick as a cat, his son Alex was with Tamba Bay Bucs for a bit.

Laz, I'm with you on Mount Union topping the mighty Bruins. That is an unbelievable 23 yr record of accomplishment....Go Purple Raiders

Upon further reflection ( I googled it ) UCLA's basketball Bruins were damn amazing too!
10- Championship Title games in 12 seasons( 1964-1975), all WINS 10-0
38- NCAA consecutive Tournament game victories without a loss.
88- game win streak.
47- game win streak.
13- Final Fours in 15 seasons (1962-1976) - 10(1st), 2(3rds), 1(4th)
4- 30-0 seasons ('64,'67,'72,'73)
3- 29-1 seasons ('68,'69,'71)

Mount Union 7-7 in championship games (2000-2014) ,15yrs
UCLA 10-0 in championship games (1964-1975) , 12yrs

Pretty damn good stuff Dan.

The Bruins were a true dynasty. Maybe we should try to come up with one for every sport. Regardless of level.

I'm sticking with Mount Union for football because of the duration of their dominance. The Oklahoma Sooners won 47 straight games back in the 50's which is amazing for a major college team but I'll have to go back and see if anyone can match a 96% win pct. over 23 years.

Yale is close.

173-8-10 93.2% between 1872-1894 (their first 23 years.)

208-24-17 87.0% 1895-1917 (their 2nd 23 years)

Composite for 46 seasons...381-32-27 89.7% (46 years)

103-40-13 70.2% 1919-1937 (their next 19 years) (no team in 1918 War)

484-72-40 for 65 years...84.6%

I think that is going to be hard to top.
