I see the paper sacks were out at Doak today

Florida just got charged with a "targeting of the ass" penalty!

Gatorman, I was at Doak Campbell today. Don’t recall seeing anybody with paper sacks unless it was from the Chicken Salad Chick which has concessions there. I did see a lot of vehicles with Gator paraphernalia headed south on I-75 in Alachua County about the same time the 2nd half was starting at Ben Hill Griffin.

I didnt spot it, the wife did. I was messing with the puppies when she asked me why are they wearing paper sacks on their heads, I turned to the TV and there it was. Maybe your distance vision isn't what it once was, in as far as why you didnt see it? Attendence at Doak today was about 24,000 off capacity at game time , not sure how many were left in the stands at Doak by the end of the game? Im sure traffic heading east on I10 was a breeze after the game, and it made your commute to I75 south much easier. Attendence at Florida today was about 1500 over capacity, between the hour rain delay during the 1st half and then halftime score, Im sure spoting vehicles with Gator parahernalia on I75 south was cartainly possible.

Florida's basement dwelling is now its 3rd year under its current coach, so putting more fannies in stadium seats than seats that are actually available, is a fairly significant accomplishment to say nothing about its fan base still showing up for games despite the circumstance of the football program presently! Clearly the fans of FSU have a much higher expectation for quality football, for todays attendence to be so far under the actual capacity of Doak. It was just a few months less than a year ago FSU was fighting for a position to make the 4 team playoff! If we were graphing the trend lines for game attendence, I'd probably have to say I havent seen graphed trajectory changes like that since the ballot dumps for one candidate during the 2020 presidential election.

The coaching questions in Gainesville I believe have changed today, from "if" to "when". As I indicated today in my original post, its being reported that the buy out cash for Napier's contract has been raised. The "ass trageting" penalty against the Gators during today's game, seemed emblematic of the current status of Gator football.

Update: Listening to the Gator's talking heads recorded post game, and Billy Martin just commented about the paper sacks being out at Doak today..............

The paper sack heads must have been in the student section which is on the opposite side of where my seats are this year due to the stadium construction. I don’t know if you took into account there is much less seating currently due to the construction. It was a decent crowd for a noon game in Tallahassee against Memphis that is part of a 4 game home stretch. The sun was baking us so combined with the poor performance on the field the crowd definitely thinned at halftime.

Who is Billy Martin?

I believe he was the editor of Gator Bait, older gentleman now, but still widely respected in the Gator community. The context of his comment was this: he'd love to be saying things about what's going on in Tallahassee, I saw paperbacks in the stands today in the stands at Doak, but the reality is things are much worse right now in Gainesville.

I googled doak's seating capacity and then attendance figures for yesterday's game. Nothing I viewed made mention of any construction going on? Had I noted that I probably wouldn't have pointed out yesterday's attendance, without 1st noting the stadium currently had seating restrictions due to on-going construction.

I believe I time stmped this to start just before Buddy made the remark about papersacks at Doak, its right around the 24:12 marl of this post game boardcast.

It’s okay. You can take it to the bank a lot of Nole fans were enjoying the salve to the wounds provided from the Gators troubles with Texas A&M yesterday.

I have a friend on UF’s coaching staff. Apparently it’s pretty chaotic, no one wants to take blame and are pointing fingers at each other at everything from coaching to recruiting. Pretty much said it wouldn’t bother him if he quit right now and retired from coaching from all the negativity and cancerous attitudes that are going on behind the scenes.

Not a good situation at all. Look Billy was already seeing recruiting results that were directly realted to negative recruiting before the season even started, the only situation that would have change that theme were "W's".....that isn't happening now. Im leaning into ending the Napier era this weekend, and bringing a temp coach (Urban speaks/interacts regularly with members of the Gator community), to me would be the perfect guy for a job like that. Because the reality is your not going to get a available coach until the season has concluded, but keeping Napier rather dumping him now does more harm than good for the program moving forward at this point.

The buy out money has been raised in Gainesville.
And another fast car was reported on the Highways, of Athens, GA
It's really not Napier, anybody who watched these past three games can tell you UF players were not prepared as if they didn't study film or the ASSISTANTS didn't prepare them. UF defense acted as if they didn't know what was coming. Napier isn't the problem but he has to take the hits because he brought to UF his buddies and friends from his previous job. You come to an elite college you don't bring your buddies and friends with you. I recall Nick Saban firing assistants on the sideline Napier cannot do this, not to his buddies and friends.

They need to stop paying these college head coaches these big gigantic salaries and go to a performance salary chart starting them off at $3 million. Then if the team goes eight and two, for example, give the coaches a bonus if they win SEC give them a bonus if they win the national championship give them a bonus if they make it to a bowl game and win give them a bonus if they make it to a bowl game and lose, and you lower the bonus. But the start them out at such a high salary in my pen that's the problem at University of Florida. It's been a revolving door for the past 10+ years. Should be based off of performance of the team not because some A.D. is oh, he's a very good coach.

Second, if you look at Florida's overall sports record since a A.D. Strickland has been there, they have a losing record!! So maybe it's time to part ways with the AD.

Well, someone is going to be vying for Top dog in the state after next week's Canes / USF game. First competition Canes have faced - Florida is showing itself to be as bad as the other two patsies they've played.

And FSU will be nails for the Canes that could salvage their season.
