Former Manatee HS athlete Cord Sandberg - a third round pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2013 baseball draft - got off to a slow start this season after being promoted to Class A (Advanced) Clearwater, but hit a scorching .364 (12 for 33) over the past 10 games, thereby lifting his BA to a healthy .326 which puts him 12th in the Florida State League.

If you want to watch the 21 year old OF work his way toward the big show, just go to Brighthouse Field in Clearwater or wait for the Threshers to visit one of 11 other FSL stadiums throughout the state.

$6-8 will get you a great seat at most FSL games. It's one of the best bargains in professional sports.

It's good for Cord. He had his pick in Football or Baseball. Glad he is doing well in Baseball.

Fresh update: Cord cooled-off a bit. After 28 games (20% of the season), he's batting .277, 25th best average in the league. Not quite as good as the .326 he was hitting on April 20th, but still respectable.
