Ft Myers in a squeaker over North Ft Myers 7-6

North Ft Myers has the pick of the litter in most of Lee County. They have been loaded with athletes the last three years and have been picked to make deep runs. But this was their first year to make the playoffs under Coach Earnest Graham. Ft Myers who NFM beat back on Sept. 1st 34-17, upset them tonight 7-0. Ft Myers D shut out their offense, NFM scored on a fumble return.

Can they beat Naples next week? Looks like Naples is getting better with each game they play.

Most definitely. Naples had to beat PC (3rd in their district that never beat a team with a winning record) by scoring twice in the last 10 seconds. And FM beat them last year.

Fort Myers is old school. Coach Sammy is just like his dad. He will play with anyone who shows up. No need to recruit. He already has countless wins against teams with far better players. Kids who come through this program learn a lot more than just football. Last night, our sideline was filled with former players pulling for the upset.That means a lot. Lee County has too many high schools for a team to win a state championship in football. So we will try another one at Naples on Friday. In our world, if you are practicing on Thanksgiving, you had a decent year. Now don't mess with our girls basketball or softball teams lol. WAVE OUT!

For those of you outside of SW FL, North Ft Myers has been the "go to" school the last three years. Its why schools on the north shore of the Caloosahatchee are gutted and probably haven't won 8 games between them this season.

Mariner, Ida Baker are way down. Island Coast and Cape Coral were two pretty good programs fairly recently - in fact as my buddy Wave reminded me, when the Canes were struggling today, that VA QB played at Island Coast.

Congrats wave and yeah same thing down here too many schools, talent spread thin and higher ups not really supportive.

Someone told me North Ft. Myers only had a handful of returnees this year and most of the starters were transfers. Almost every chain crew in Cape mentioned their schools had lost most of their best athletes to them
