I'm working on my 3A Playoffs Preview, but since the topic has already been created..
I thought at the start of the year that 3A North came down to Jacksonville Trinity Christian Academy and Ocala Trinity Catholic with Berkeley Prep being the Darkhorse team. Both teams have great coaching staffs, lots of D-1 athletes, rich traditions and State Championship history.
I still think that this game in the 2nd round will be the Northern Championship game. These two teams have played some great football this year.
As for the rest of the North, Berkeley Prep has struggled to close the season out, but are still formidable; however, Lakeland Christian is going to be a tough out as they are getting healthy at the right part of the season.
I do not think LCS/Berkeley/MCC/First Academy are stout enough to beat Ocala Trinity or Jacksonville Trinity. Keep in mind as well, this year the Region 2 winner travels to the Region 1 winner. So OTC or JaxTCA would be home on Black Friday!

Berkeley Prep is an enigma IMO. They did defeat Lakeland Christian but then lost to Tampa Catholic and Frostproof. And they just barely beat 2A Victory Christian by one point. First Academy's offense is the 2nd highest scoring offense in 3A at 47 ppg. They also played undefeated 5A Bishop Moore close and pounded MCC. I remember when First Academy came out of nowhere in 2012 to defeat OTC in the 2nd round. So, I am very leery of them. That being said, OTC has got to get by Providence and TCA for that scenario to even be possible.
I wonder if either American Heritage or Westminster have a chance against CCC in the South?

Berekely's fans and coaches are the most excuse making SOB's out there... they have a million and 1 excuses to explain 40-13 and I am sure if the lose to 1st academy the excuses will continue... They never really lost a game in their minds.
Have a chance? AH will be favored if when they come to Clearwater... I don't think many people expect Westminster to beat AH this year especially if they cannot get healthy.

American Heritage is actually the favorite, in more than a few peoples eye, to win 3A this year. A lot of people, myself included, would love to see Heritage vs JaxTCA.
Personally, where CCC and JaxTCA didn't come through against IMG, I think Heritage smokes IMG..and it's not close.

Come on over Jess. AH vs TCA are the heavy favorites for the 3A championship .The Boys(Mark,Wave,Darter,Peezy,Billy,Mac,Jack,John,Laz??,Dan,and a few more..) will buy you lunch. Dig deep fella's you're in for .75 each.
I wouldn't say AH is a heavy favorite over CCC in the south, a favorite..but CCC is to young. Now, I do think CCC gets that elusive state championship during CJ Cotman's time at CCC..that guy is truly special.
I also think Ocala Trinity is a very legit threat to JaxTCA in the North, but the athletes at JaxTCA are just a bit to much for the Celtics right now.

I finally looked at American Heritage - Delray Beach and their 2014 schedule. Scary to say the least. They have blown away all of their competition with the exception of 8A Miramar, one of the best teams in Florida. And they only lost to them 14-7. Looking at the teams they beat, which are all higher classification and very good teams:
4A Gulliver prep
4A Glades Central
6A East Lee County (really not a very good team but a higher classification)
7A Central of Alabama (gave them their only loss)
5A American Heritage of Plantation
6A Heritage
Of course they also pounded their district teams:

Cardinal Newman

It's worth noting, that in the loss to Boynton Beach- Tim Irvin, the Westminster Superstar didn't play. He's a huge part of their offense.

They don't quite have the offense of CCC, they don't quite have the defense of Trinity Christian, but they are a very good mixture of both. Meaning, they are VERY formidable on both sides of the ball.
