......................................................................................................
Q&A with Seminole kicker/punter Liam Allen
How did the high school football season go overall?
“We went 10-3 in Coach Calhoun’s first year. We were undefeated district champions and made it to the Regional Championship game. Personally in my first year playing football, I set a school record of most extra points in a season going 50 for 51. I was ranked top 10 in Florida in my class for kicking points with 62 points and I hit the game winning extra point against Lake Mary for the district championship.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plan is to be working every day to get better. Whether it’s lifting, kicking, or doing drill work. Last year was my first-year kicking, so I need to work twice as hard to get to the next level. Also continuing to excel in the classroom.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe we have a really great group of guys this year. We have an amazing coaching staff and so much talent. I think we have the opportunity to do something really special this year. I’m blessed to be a part of the Seminole football culture and family.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I am really excited for our kickoff classic against Jones. It will be a great challenge for us to start off the season against one of the best programs in the area. Two historical central Florida high school football teams competing at Camping World Stadium is going to be awesome. So I’m looking forward to the opportunity and the challenge with my team.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“It’s really hard to single any one player out because of the talent in this area. All I know is the guys that would be the toughest to play against are on my team. So I’m really blessed to get to call them teammates.”

......................................................................................................
Q&A with Port Charlotte quarterback Logan Flaherty
How did the high school football season go overall?
“The season did not go exactly as planned as I got hurt in the first game of the year and was out for 6 weeks. I came back and ended up leading my team to a 4-3 record as the starter while winning our district and making the playoffs. I ended up throwing for close to 600 yards and 5 touchdowns numbers that aren’t bad coming off an injury all and all wasn’t a bad season still got a lot to work on.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“As of now I’m throwing three to four days a week after school as well as lifting 4 days a week and doing a speed workout every Friday.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I have transferred to Port Charlotte high school from Charlotte high school and they are coming off a good season so I think we should be able to follow that up with another strong season with a deep run into playoffs.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I don’t think I could give an overall toughest team but our focus is on teams in our district. Off the top of my head some of the other tough teams would be Venice, FBA and Zephrhills.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Venice’s defensive end Asharri Charles is a good player who may be a difficult task to handle when the time comes.”

2024 Hardee Wildcats Football Varsity Schedule

Hardee just posted the 2024 football schedule on Instagram, all ten regular season games plus the preseason Kickoff Classic are listed. It's interesting to see Fort Meade back on the schedule after the coaches dropped them from the schedule last year. Hardee's coaches were having trouble finding a home opponent for week 8 but finally found one in Williston who was 11-1 last year and ranked #36 in the state in MaxPreps's final 2023 rankings, their only loss last year was to Hawthorne in the Class 1R Regional Finals. Not included on the Instagram schedule is the May 23 Spring Jamboree in Frostproof which includes five teams: DeSoto, Frostproof, Hardee, Lake Placid, and Victory Christian.

One step closer to HS football losing this lifetime fan forever

The FHSAA in its non stop attempt to ruin the HS football, announced this week that it may end its long standing rule of not allowing players who transfer to participate in Spring football games. The proposal says Ricky Bell (FHSAA Board Member), would be big for recruiting, as it would allow players to be on the field before college recrutiers! Wondering to myself, how long berfore the FHSAA submits a proposal to allow for in game transfers? Because.......Hey its great for recruiting!

So before I end this post, thought I would add a music video from 1/4/1972 on the BBC series "Sounds of Saturday" of the the Band "Faces". The clip is time stamped to start at a rather appropriate titled song of - Losing You

Q&A with Hagerty running back Porter Joseph Williams

How did the high school football season go overall?
“We made it to the playoffs and finished the season with a record of 6-4. Although making the playoffs is a great accomplishment, I want more. Working towards a championship should always be the goal.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“There is no off-season for me. I love working out and always have. I'm always working on the big things; getting stronger, faster, more explosive, and bigger as a running back. I'm also working on the little things to really improve my craft. This includes mobility, ankle strength, and running mechanics just to name a few.”

How do you feel your team will do next season?
“I believe our team has the potential to do well next season. To achieve the success I'm looking for, each player must go all in. We must buy into our coach's culture, put in the extra work, and avoid complacency. If the team collectively does this, I believe we will see great improvement and maximize our potential. For me personally going into my senior year it's important that I set an example for my team.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Competing in class 7a of Florida football, we will see plenty of talented teams. We will prepare week to week and won’t be intimidated by any team.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“It's been a broad range from across the country, primarily in the division 1 fcs.”

What school has been recruiting the hardest?
“I've been very fortunate to be in communication with numerous schools. I appreciate the interest each school has taken with me. Considering we are still in the midst of the process, it would be premature for me to call out any one particular school. What I will say is that it's been an exciting process speaking one-on-one with coaches, visiting campuses, and building new relationships that grow me as an athlete. With that said, there is one school that stands out for really going the extra mile during my time there. It included a private tour of the campus, a generous amount of time meeting one-on-one with the head Coach, and touches that made the whole experience very personalized.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“Yes, so far I have been to William & Mary, GA Tech, and Suny Brockport with great experiences at each of them.”

Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“I have a few coming up in the near future including Illinois St, Hillsdale, Davidson, and Princeton.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?

“Again, being in class 7a we will see talented players on a weekly basis. I'm not intimidated by any individual and I expect the rest of the team to see it the same way.”
